Aod Secondly, Here are the things that he prayeth for unto this God; he prayeth for Spiritual ktzowledge, (that is the general;) and that ill thefe four particulars, 1 , In the k1Iowledge of himfelf, in communion with God, and that by two ways, a way of wifdom, and a way of revelatioll; as I have already Jhewn in the 17thVerfe. . 2 . That they may know, what is the hope of his callillg. 3· What is the riches of the glory of his lnheritaHce in the Sailtts. 4· What is the Excetli11g greatnefi of hispower, that works in the Saints 1 and that will bring them to this Glory, The Apo!lle enlargeth his heart, ac– cording to the utmoil: experience himfelf had, what was requilite and necelfary for fealed and grown Chriil:ians, and accordingly frameth his Prayer for thefe Ephejimts. I have opened to you the meaning 'of the lirft Petition , That he wotddgivt rmto yotz tbe Spirit of wifdom and revelation, in the /mow/edge of him. By k11ow/edge of him, I !hewed, wa. meant an excellency of k11ow ledge, as the Apo!lle calleth it, Phi!. j. 8. which conlifteth in communion and fellow!hip with God. The ways of which knowledge, is either in a way ofwifdom, or inaway of revelation. I difpatched this in the !aft difcourfe, Now I come to the 18thVerfe, where there is a new Petition.
