WE are handling of this, the ExcudhiJ grMt1uj} of the power which God in this lite putteth forth toward Believers. I ~ave proved at large; that the Power here extended toward Behevers, 1s not to be refiram· ed only to the Refi.rreCl:ion at the latter day, that he will raife up our mortal Bodies, as he raifed up Chrifi's Body unto glory; but that he lpeaks of the Power of God in this life, as the fame Apofile expreffeth it, Chap. 3· verj20• .Ac• cordi11g to thepower whichworketb i11 m, that worketh at prefent; that is the Power he here meaneth. The Power of God is either feen in the firfi work of turning us to God, and that is mainly and eminently in the Apofile's eye; for faith he, (in a Coherence to thefe words in the fecond Chapter, verfe 1.) A11dye who were dead i11 fins andtrejpajfes (it mufihave a Verb) hath he qt1iclened, fpeaking of their Con– verfion, and foat the rth and 6th Verfes you find it plainly exprefi. Or elfe this Power is lhcwed toward us in continuing the work of Faith; and it is hard to fay, in which more power is lhewn and fpent. As the throwing out of Sata.n out of a man (as I /hewed out of Luke 12,) it is a work that is done for a Chn!han; but tt is not a work fo much upon him as upon Satan that ts cafi om.
