THE Power that wrought in Chrifi ia his Refurred:ion, l have fpoke to that. As alfo of the feveral Articles which are laid down.here in thefe words, asaamely, ThatJefU! Chrifl was dead, that he was not only dead, but remained in the flate of death, for he was raijed from the dead; and la!lly, that lie was raifed up, and that by God. l have difpatched and explained thefe things out of thefe words. I come now to that fiate of Exaltation, which is here fet forth to us; And fot him at hi& own righ,t ha11din the Heavmly places, far a6ove all principalit1 andpower,fgc. There are Five things in thefe firfi words, Ami fot him at hi& ow11 right hand i11 the Heavm!J'places. The Firfi is, What is meant by[ttti11g him af hi& own right ham!. Wherein we mull confider both fomething about the Phrafe, and fomething about the thing 1t felf imported thereby. The Second thing to be confidered, is the Author of it, G 0 'D ; it is He that fet him. The Third, is the Subjed: of it, Him; When he raifed himfrom the dead, a11d Jet him at bi& ow11 right hand, • Fourthly, The place where, In the Heavmly places. Laflly, When it was he was fet by God, at his right hand : It is plain, iafter his Refurrcdion; Which he wrottght ill Chrijl, whm he raifod him jrom the dead, a11d [et him,fgc. Thefe are the parts which remain of the 2oth Verfe, concerning the Exalta· tion, which I hope to difpatch, and fo likewife to proceed to the 21th Verfe, which is an ·explanation of the great dignity, that our Lord and Saviour Jefus Chrifl cnjoyeth in Heaven. What he faith b4t metaphorically in the 20thVerfe, [He[eth1mat hi< ow11rightha1Jd in the Heavtnly placts,] he exprefTethmore really in the 21th Verfe, [Far abovt allpritJcipality atJdpower, (§c.] Firfi, to begin with the phrafe, [A11d[tt, '!)<P(,.,] The word is fometimes ufed (as we fay in Grammar) either intranfitively, for the Jetting of him th~t fits; or elfe tranfitively, to make to fit, tocmt{e to)it, fo it is here taken; for 1t is fpoken of God the Father·s fetting of Chrifi , or making Chrifi to fit at his own right hancl.
