to the EPHESIAN S. 235 Laftly, It relateth to the General A!fembly: For there is a fpecial reafon why C"...A..r1 [together J here when he fpeaks ofrailing and fitting in Heaven, lhould refer to Ser. XVll. the Perfons ofall the Elect; for at the Refurrection all !hall cometogether, and be~ railed together, and in Heaven all !hall fit together, that is the Glory ofit, and that is the fl:ate of it, that is it which makes Heaven, Heaven, the company of Chrifl: and ofthe Saints when they are all together, And, my Brethren, God, though we are poor Sinners here upoo Earth, yet in his eternal Decree, and Iikewife in Chrifl:, he confiders us all railed, and all fitting there in him; .All live 11nto God, as Luk! faith, fpeaking ofthe RefurrectionofAbr.Wam, lftac and Jacob. There is this difference betweenAdam's being a common Perfon and Chrifl:'s, becaufe they were decreed who lhould come ofAdam if he had fl:ood, yet in a manner it needed not to have been, though God decrees and purpofeth every ihing. But it is otherwite now, it is by a fpecial decree ofPredeftination that all are in Chrifl:, therefore God bath them all before him, he bath them all in his Eye, and he will bring them all together with him, there will be the general Affembly of all the Saints; therefore it is called the gathering of the Elect from all the four Corners ofthe Wor\d. You have an excellent place for this, in Joh. 6. g8. indif you mark it,thereis an Emphafis upon it, Thi! is the Fathers Will which hathfentme, that ofallwhich hehathgiven me, I Jhollld!ofe nothing, but jho-11/d raife it up •gain at !aft day. He will not have a Corn wanting whereofhe is the Firfl:.fruits. Heaven is the general Collection ofall the Saints, therefore in the mean time till we come thither, Chrift being a common Perfon for us, we are all together, all the Saints are at once railed up in him : We are not all quickned together in him, one is quickned in one Age, and another in another, but we are railed together in him, and the RefQrrection !hall find us.all together, and the Judgment !hall find us all to– gether, therefore the fl:ateofthefe two days are reprefented by Chrifl:'s being a common Perfon, a11d we are raifed up together, aNd made to fit together in heavenfJ placeJ, in Him. ~Gg 2 SERM.
