The following Words, (omitted by Mr. Neal :) That he trufted in the Honour and Juftice of this honourable Houle, in regard, that tho' they were accus'd ofgreat and flagitious Crimes,yet he could ' not hear of the leaft Proofoffered againft them ; and therefore he hoped, that" they who profeffed fo much Sincerity in Religion, would never have St. Paul's Cenfure defervedly laid upon them, Tou that abborrefi Idols, doll thou commit Sacri- lege? Which he did not fee how it could be a- ' voided, if they deftroy thole Religious Founda- tions, which were dedicated, and fet a-part for the folemn Service and Honour of God. Con- ' cluding, that upon the Ruin of the Rewards of ' Induftry and Learning, no StruEture could be ' rais'd but Ignorance ; and upon the Chaos of Ig- norance, nothing but Confufion, Prophanenefs, Irreligion and Atheifm.'
