When the Houfe had fpent fome time in reading it, they fent Anfwer by Mr. Pym, in this manner: Mr. Pym came to the Commons Door, and called for the Women, and fpake to them in thefe Words : Good Women, your Petition, " and the Reafons, have been read in the Houle, " and is thankfully accepted of, and is come in a " feafonableTime. You thall, God willing, receive tt from us, all the Satisfaátion which we can pof 6G fibly give to your juft and lawful Delires. We intreat you to repair to your Houfes, and turn " your Petition, which you have delivered here, " into Prayers at home for us: for we have been, " and are, and thall be (to our utmoft power) " ready to relieve you, your Hufbands, and Chil- e dren, and to perform the Trutt committed unto " us, towards God, our King, and Country, as " becorneth faithful Chrians, and loyal Sub- " je8s." Thefe Petitions would have been wor- thy of a Place in Mr. Neal's curious Collecion. Neal, p. 545. After this, they prefented a third Petition to the King at Theobalds ; in which they proteft, That if his Majefly perfrfls in that Denial, [viz. of the Militia] the Dangers and Diflempers of the Kingdom were fuch, as would endure no longer * Penes me. Lord Clarendon informs us, Vol.:. p. 353. That Pym died with great Torment and Agony, of a Difeafe unufual, and therefore more fpokenof, Morbuspediculofus, as was reported; which renderedhim anObjet very loathfome to thofe who had been molt delighted with him.
