( 12 ) Obligation be fuppofed ? It is invaitt to hope that any E/lablifhment can be fo framed, as that many Perfons will not imagine fore DefeEs and ImperfeEti- ons in it : And if this Imagination be fufficient to excufe them from comply- ing with the Eflablifhment, it is wholly inv4in to delire, or propofe any fuch thing. If therefore an E/lablijhment be neceffary, or expedient, the Rule muff be, that is is the duty of all Chriflaans to comply with it, if no finful terms of Communion be required of them unlefs you will lay all Eflablrfhrnents open to infinite Divifions, and frulirate the very End for which alone they are áefigned. And if this be the Rule we are to go by, you cannot but think it your Duty to comply with the Church already Eflablifhed. For that there ought to be an Eflablifhmcnt, it isyour Opini- on, as well-as the Opinion of the Con- formifls. It is plain, therefore, that it is the concern of thofe who are in Autho- rity, to frame fuch an one, as they judge moll agreeable to the Gofpel of Chriii, and the Ends of Religious Af- femblies.
