( 23 ) Thoughts, and fach Affeaions, as are proper to be expreffed in all the feve- ral parts of Publick Wort/lip ? This is the main Point of all : And whoever hath confcientioufly done this, I am perfua- ded, will not lightly (peak evil of the Eflablifbed Liturgy ; and will not eafily be induced either to treat it as acold and empty Service, or toprefer fuch Campo- fitions before it, as He mull join with as foon as he hears them, and often before hecan pals a true Judgment upon them. This, indeed, is true, that the Plainnefs and Simplicity of the Liturgy, render it more intelligible to all Capacities, than any Prayers fet up in oppofition to it : But this Plainnefs is not fuch as can be defpifed by any of the greateí& Senfe and is fo far from being a Blemifh, that it is an Excellence in It, and ought to recommend it to the Approbation and 'Life of all amongfF us.
