In the Means of Converfion which is the evangelical vVord by his Divine Efficacy, the People willingly without any Compullion Aock to him. VVaters naturally defcend, if they are made to afcend, it is by Engines or Art, and not from aoy fponraneous Motion or peculiar Quality fo inclining them; fo this People when they rend Sion-wards and afcend.that holy Hill are aCted, animated and firengthened by the Aid, Art, and Efficacy of the Holy Spirit by the Gofpel of Chrift. In Men convened, (r.) This denotes Diligence and Fervor in Piety, as Waters gather together with Celerity and Impctuofity. (2 .) It cienotes Jil·equency and Plenty, as many ·waters flow together. (3.) It denotes Concord or Agreement, as many Streamscome from divers Places, and when they meet make up one homogeneous Body, whofe Parts cannot be difi:erned from each other, &c. A0' Heart is inditing a good Matter, the Hebrew is, rMy Hearf boileth or bubbleth up a good Word.] The LXX ·~•e.u~aTO, eruflavit, prompjit; this is an elegant Metaphor of the Speech of the Heart well premeditated, which by the Mouth and Lips is uttered, as Water when it boils, oftenrimes bubbles over. ·To DISTIL is put for Speerh, DoCtrine or Prophecy, either becaufe like Rain, or Dew it is every Moment inllilled into the Ears, for all Words and Sentences are not propofed at one and the fame Time, but difl:inCtly and as it were by Drops: Or be– caufe, as Rain and Dew water, refrefh, and fruccify the Earth, {o does heavenly DoCtrine render a Soul fruitful, &c.
