Chrift is the great Teacher of God's Law; it is he that gives us the Knowledge of Sal– vation, that guides our Feet into the Way of Peace, Luke i. 79· We mull: feek the Law, i.e. the Mind and Will of God, at his Mouth, who ./hews us plainly of the Father. His Tabernacle is ~nly ftanding; 'not 1\l!ofes's, not .Aarons's, not Elias's, but J efus's: This is my beloved Soil, hear hiin, Matt. xvii. 4, 5· He is the laft and only Teacher fent from God. XVII. The Prieft was to juJge XVII. Chrift is Judge concerning the Plague of the Plague of the Leprofy, and of every Man's Heart, what Si"n is deadly, and to pronounce clean, or unclean. what not. Though there is no Sin ve"nial, as the Papifts affirm, yet there is much more Danger and Evil in fame Sins, than in others. As for example, It is worfe to have Sin in the AffeCtion, than in the Converfation; to love it, than to commit ir. The bell: of Saints have not been without Sin; Infirmities have attended them, yet they 1oved \hem nor. It is a loathfome Thing to a true Believer; That which I hate, tbat do I, Rom. vii. -Is. *The Prieft was to pronounce a Man utterly unclean, if the Plague was got into h"is Head: So if a Man's Judgment, Will, and A ffeCl:ion, are for the Ways of Sin; if they chufe and love that which is evil, Chrift the High-Priefr, in his Word, pronounces fuch unclean. When Men approve not of God's Ways, becaufe they forbid, and give no Toleration to th~ir beaftJy Luft and Senfuality, and from hence fecretly defpile Reli– gion in the StriCl:nefs of it; thefe furely have the Plague in their Heads.
