Sciences whatfoever: For if the firfl: Adam had fuch Strength of Wifdom and Knowledge as to give Names to all Things, fuitable to their Natures, who was but earthly; much more the fecond Adam, who was the Lord from Heaven. The Son of God though he was hard laid to, and much !l:ruck at, by the Powers of Dark– nefs, yet could they never reach high enough to break his Head, to dafb him and defhoy his Power, (to help his People in time of Need) bm were deftroyed themfelves in the very Atterppt; He jpoiled Principalities. The Son of God hath paffed through the Gates ofDeath, hath conquered lum that had the Power of Death, and can never die, Death hath no more Dominion over him : H e ever lives to make Interceffion for the Saints: Lives for evermore. I N F E R E N C E ~ I. THIS fbeweth the great Love and Goodnefs of God in giving fuch a Head. 2. The great Love of Chrift, and his wonderful Condefcenfion in ftooping fo low, as to become a Head to poor Morrals. 3· What a happy Condition the Lhurch and Members of Chrift are in. (I .) In– terefted in the fame Love with the Head. (2.) Under the lame Degree of EleEtion with the Head. (3.) In reference to AEts of Mercy, Col. iii. I2. And here, in reference to the Application of Jefus Chrifl:, in refpeEt of SanCtification. From the Scope of the Text it is evident the Apoftle intends Gofpel Holinefs, he preffes the Saints at R ome to a godly Life, and not only to walk holily, but to draw all Power of holy Walking from Chrift, fo as to be cloathed with the Virtues and Graces of his Spirit.
