Confider, what gracious Promifes he bath made to pardon and forgive all by-paft Treafons, if you will come in, and accept of his good and peaceable Terms? Ifa.lv. 6. • 7· Confider, what great and irre!iftible Power there is in his Hands (are not the Bowels of his Compa!Iion very tender) to eafe himfelf of his Enemies? Ifa. i. 248. Con!ider, what a fweet Thing it is to be at peace with God, it palfeth all Un– derftanding ! 9· Confider now is the Day of your Vi!itation, this great Work admits of no Delay, now is the Day of your Salvation, 2 Cor. vi. 2. 0 how fad will it be when Chrift lball fay, you having not accepted the free Tender of Salvation, the Things that con– cern your Peace, are now hid from ;•our Eyes! 10. Confider Jefus Chrift condefcended very low, you may have Peace on very eafy Terms, (viz.) Hear, and your Souls jhalllive; Ifa. lv. 3, 4· (i.e.) hear faithfully and favingly, &c. and I will make an everlafling Covenant with you, &c. But by way of ObjeCtion, fame may fay, what muft we do ro have Peace·with God? Anfw. l. You mult fight no more againft God, neither muft you join with rhofe that in any wife take up Arms againft God, nor refift his Word, his Spirit, nor turn a deaf Ear to the Reproofs of Confcience. 2. You mutt not only break your League with Satan, but mu(\ alfo fight again Cl him and rebuke him, and fo, that you may have no more Commerce with him, but muft always defire Divine Afiiftance to refift his Temptations : Though he pretends Love to you In offering worldly l'rofits, Pleafures, and Honors, yet his grand Defign is to damn your Soul. 3· Do not any longer hold a Confederacy with Sin, no not fo much as a fecret F riend– fhip with your Delilah, your choice and pleafant Sin, but pm all your Sins (as it were) to the Sword; Mortifying the Deeds of the Body, &c. If you would have Peace, you mull: deal with your Sins, as the Ifraelites were to deal with the curfed Canaanites. 4· Pojitive!y. Confefs all your former Rebellions, Unbelief, Earthly-mindednefs, Pride, Pafiion, Lying, Drunkennefs, yea, all Sins, and forfake them. 5· Take hold of Chrift, receive the Atonement he bath made for thee. 6. Enter into Covenant immediately, feal it now, defer it not on pain of Death. 7· Join thyfelf to the Lord's Covenant-People with fpeed, delay not, &c. A P P L C A T 0 N. I. From hence we may infer, That thofe that rejeCt Chrift, the great Embaffador of Peace, are undone to all Eternity. 2. Let thofe, that through Grace are in a reconciled State and Condition, afcribe all to Chrift; Omnis Adoratio, & Laus tribuenda Chriflo.
