JII. The Serpent of Brafs was to be lifted upon a Pole. IV. After many People died that were ftuno-, the Brazen Serpent was appo~ted to be lifted up, as an Ordinance of healtng. V. A Serpent wounded, and a Serpent healed. The firfl: that wounded had Poifon in him ; but the fecond, thollgh called aSerpent, PARALLEL. ]. SINNERS are ftung with Sin, that is like the Sting of a Serpent ; '!'he Poifon ofAfps is under ·their 'I'ongue, Rom. iii. r3· Sin wounds the Soul, l'v1y Wounds jlink and are corrupt. So Chrifl: was lifted up upon the Crofs, and is lifted up in the Miniftry of the Word, and the Ordinances of the Gofpel, and thereby in the Hearts of Believers, John xii. 34· IV. So after Mankind finned, and was brought under Death, Chrifl: came by the Appointment of God to die and be crucified, or lifted up upon the Crofs, to heal and recover us of our Wounds. V.
