A Metonymy of the Adjunll is feven-fold. I. When the Accident is put for its Subjell in Kind. 2. When the 'I'hing contai11ed is put for the 'I'bing containing, or a Thing in a Place, is put for the Place. 3· When 'I'ime is put for Things done or exifting in Time. 4· When the Opinion of Men is put for the 'I'bing itfelf. 5· When the Occupatum, or Subject concerned is put for its Object. 6. When the Sig11 is put for the Thing fignified. 7· When a Name is put for a Perfon or Thing. Of thefe in Order. I.
