Man lives not by Bread alone, but by every Word that proceedeth out of the Mouth </ God, Matt . iv. 4· 5· It leads to eternal Life, all thofe who believe and follow the holy Rules and Di– rections thereof. VI. The Gofpel is called the Power ofGod unto Salvation, Rom. i. 16. i.e. a mighty and glorious lnf\rument or Means of God's faving Power: MetalepGs. VIL The Gofpel is called thejoyful Sound, the Lawwas a Sound of Fears and T er– ror, a Sound or Voice. of Words that were exceeding dreadful. The Gofpel is the Antitype of the founding of the Trumpet of the great Jubilee, to proclaim full Li. berty and Freedom from all Bondage and Tyranny of Sin, Satan, H ell and Wrath, Heb. xii. 19. Deut. xxv. 8, 9, 10 . VIII. The Gofpd is called the unfearchable Riches of Chrif\, Eph. iii. 8. 1. JX . The Gofpel is called rhe Word of Faith, Rom. x. 8. J. It prefents the Object before the Soul. 2. It opens the Way to fee this Object. 3· It gives, by means of the Spirit, a Hand to take hold of the Object. X. The Gofpel is called the faithful Word. It is called the M inill:ration of the Spirit, 2 Cor. iii. becaufe throuah it Per– fans come to receive the Spirit, Received ye, faith the Apoftle, the Spiri( by'the Works of the Law , or by the bearing of Faith, Gal. iii. 2. XII. It is called the Gofpel of Salvation. 1. It imeref\eth the Soul, through the Spirit, into Salvation, as well as fhews the Way of it. 2. There is no other Way of Salvation but that which is revealed or mnnifcfied therein. X III. It is called the glorious Gofpel of God. 1. The Glory of God fhines forth in it. 2. It was the glorious Contrivance of his eternal \VifJom. 3· It wholly exalts God, and fets him fo~th in all his blefi'ed and moll: a]orious At– tributes and PerfeCtions, beyond what any other Minilhation whatfoever d~th. XIV. The Gofpel is called a Book, Rev. xxii. 18. 1. Yea, it is a Book by the Infpiration of God, a> all holy Scriptures were. All other Books, fave the Bible, are human, but this is facred and divine. 2. There is a Bleffing pronounced to him that reads this Book, Rw. i. 3· 3· And a much greater Bleffing to him that underftands it, and keeps the Thinas therein contained. 0 4- It is a Book of all Truth and no E rror, can that be faid of any other Book? 5· It is a Book ratified and confirmed by Wonders. 6.
