528 THE WORD OF GOD COMPARED TO LIGHT, Book III. 3· Becaufe he provides for and ma>ntains, all in Heaven and Earth at his own ' Charges, and as all have their Beings -from him, fo likewifi: they are fed and fufiained by him, they all eat at his Table, none keeps fuch a Houfe, hath fuch a Family as Chri!T, he has a good Stock, great Comings in that thus abundantly layeth out, Pfal. c1v. 24. Col. 1. 16, 17. . 4· That Chrifr's Riches are glorious Riches, appears in that he hath enriched fo many Men and Women fince theWorld begun, and not only fo but alfo with variety of choice and precious Riches. Oh what abundance of Souls hath the Lord Jefus enriched Thoulands and ten Thoulands! How many before the Law, and under the Law and under the Gofpel! Who can account or reckon up the Number? 'John declares the N umbn of them that he beheld round about the Throne to be ten thoufand times ten Thouland, and Thoufands of Thoufands. How many hath he made great, advanced on high, honored greatly on Eanh, be(] owed vaf\ Treafures upon,.how many Millions hath he adorned and gloriouOy drcked with Jewels, precious Stones and Pearls of an inefrimable Value, and yet himfelf never the poorer? Rev. v. 11 • . 5· Chrift's glorious Riches appear in that he is generally rich; rich in all Things, all the Gold and Silver and precious Stones in the World are his, he is the proper Proprietor of them, 'Ihe Earth is the Lord's and the Fulnefs thereof. 'Ibe Cattle upon a thoufand Hills. The Wool, Flax, and Oil are his, nay moreover all divine Virtues and fpiritual Gifts are his, he is rich in Wifdom and Knowledge, in Grace and Glory. 6. That Chrifr is gloriouOy rich, appears in that he has a Kingdom, yea, a glorious vafr and refplendent Kingdom and Crown to give to every one of his faithful Followers. Every Saint fuall have a Kingdom and Crown that fadetl1 not away; Be tbou faithful :mto Death, and I will give thee a Crown of Life, Rev. ii. 10. · 7· Becaufe his Riches are of fuch an excellent Nature that they enrich the Soul of Man; other Men may have vafl Riches, may have !lore of Gold and Silver, and other good Things, and yet none of thefe Riches can enrich their Souls, fpiritually they may be poor and miferable notwithftanding their great Abundance. 8. That Chrifl is gloriouOy rich, appears in that he har·h enough to enrich all, come .who will, Thoufands and ten Thoufand-', yea Millions of Thoulands if they come to "him, he has Riches of Grace and Glor-y for them all. Oh! there is Abundance, y.ea, a Redundancy of Grace and Riches in Chri!T, he is as full of Grace as the Sea is full <if Water, or the Sun is full of Light. 9· Chrifr is gloriouOy rich becaufe his Riches are incomparable, in refpeCl: of their Nature and Quality; Happy is the Man (faith Solomon) that jindeth JVifdom and the Man tbat getteth Under.ftanding, for the Merchandize of it is better than the iVlerchan– dize of Silver, and the Gain thereof than fine Gold; jhe is more precious than Rubies, and ail the 'things thou can.ft dejire are not to be compared unto her, Prov. iii. .J3, 14, 15. A -little Faith rhough it be but as a Grain of Mu!\ard-feed is worth more than Thrones, Crowns and Kingdoms of the Earth, one Dram of Grace is .better than all the Gold of Ophir. 10. Chrifr's Riches are glorious Riches becaufe they cannot be fpent, Chrifl's Trea– ,fury is inexhau(]ible, it can never be drawn dry, Chrifr gives abundantly out, ,but never wafres his Stores, nor bath a Farthing the lefs, the Riches of Chrifr are unfearch– able; 0 ! the Heighr, the Depth, the Breadth and Length of Chrifl's Riches! Who can find out the Bottom of his rich Love and Grace, the Bottom of his rich vVifdom and Knowledge? We may well cry out upon this Account, with the Apo(]le, 0! the Depth of the Riches both of the Wifdom mtd Knowledge.of God! how unfearchable are hts Judg– ments and his Ways pa.ft finding out I Rom. xi. 33· 1 r. Chrifr's Riches.are glorious Riches, becaufe his.Riches are harmlefs, (as a Divine well obferves) they are Riches that will not hurt nor harm the Souls of fuch that pof~ fefs them, never were any made worfe by being fpiritually rich. The Riches of th~ World have undone many, they have been as Thorn• to them, by which they hav.e been pierced through with many Sorrows. Many will one day curfe the Day that ever they had fuch !lore of earthly Riches; Riches are a Snare to the Poffdfors, hence Chri!T faith it is hard for" nc-h Man to enter mto the Kmgdom of Heaven. 12. Chr]fl's Ricbes are glorious Riches, becaufe they are f~tisfyin~ Riches. Silver and Gold will not fatisfy; he rhat lovetl1 Stlver fuall not be fausfied With Stlve:, nor he that loveth Abundance of lncreafe, Eccl. v. ro. He that has Chnfr and hiS Rzches has .enough, nay he has all, he has Pardon and Peace of Confcience; what can ·he de!irc· 3 more
