'3· The Holy Spirit is the Spirit of Grace, and the 'immediate efficient Caufe of all ~-Grace and gracious Effects in Men; wh~rever there is mention made of them, or any .Fruits of them, it mufr be acknowledged as .Part of his Work, though he be not ex– preffiy named, &c. G race is taken ·two 'Ways in Scripture ' '(I.) For the Grace, Free Love, and Favor of God towards us. (2.) For the gracious, free, a"d effeCl:ual Operations in us. In both Senfe~ the .Holy Spirit is the Author of it as unto us; in the fi rfl: as to Its 'Manifefl:ation and Application; in the fecond as to the Operation itfelf.
