Gofpel Salvation is a glorious Salvation in refpeCt of the Workings and Operations of the Holy Spirit upon the Heart, in order to the initiating of the Soul in the Grace and Bltflings thereof, as hath been !hewed already-. In refpeCt of all thofe Things and Blellings we are hereby invefted with, and hope to receive. 12. Gofpel Salvation is glorious, becaufe it is .a free Salvation; not by Works of Righteoufnefs that we have done, but according to his M ercy he faved us, 'l'it. iii. 5· 13. Becaufe it is a full Salvation, it fupplies the Soul with all Things it wants, whe– ther Grace, Light, Power, Wifdom, Peace, or any Thing elfe in order to initiate into it, or the perfeCt Accomplifhment of ir. '4· Becaufe it is a fweet Soul-fatisfying Salvation. THIS may inforn) and fully convince all confiderate Perfons, what the Reafon and Caufe is that the Devil is fuch an implacable Enemy to the Gofpel, and ufes all Means imaginable to prevent it or hinder the Light thereof from lhining into our Hearts, lf our Gofpel be hid it is hid to them that are loft: In whom the God of this World hath blinded the M inds of them that believe not, left the Light of the glorious Gofpel of Chrijl, who is the Image of God, jhould jhine unto them, 2 Cor. iv. 3, 4· II. lt alfo !hews us what a great Bldling God hath beftowed upon this Nation. Ill. It may be a M eans to llir up all poor Sinners to believe and obey it, to prize ar.d clleem it. IV. It may teach us to contend earneftly for it, and to hold it faft, in fpite of all Oppof.,s whatfoever. V. What Motives might hence be inferred to prevail with all fincere Believers to be earne!l: with God, that they may behold in this Glafs more of his Glory, to the end it may by ItS refldtcd J{ays, change them into the fame Image from Glory to Glory, even as by the Sptrit of the Lord.
