The Saints of God are Heirs, Heir< of God, H eirs of all Things, &c. HEIR S. L THE Firft-born had a princely Power and Dominion over their Brethren, who bowed down before them ; they were next their Fathers in Honor. I!. The Fir£1:-born were Priefts in their Father's Family, till the Levites came in. Ill. The Firft-born had the In– heritance; the reft had but a Piece of Money. And to this Day we fee, that Men ufe to make their Inheritance over to the Firft- born; ·and befides the Inheritance, the.y had a double Portion of Goods. IV. An Heir fo metimes flays a o-reat while, before he come to ~he full Pofleffion of the Inheri– tance; and until then he is under Tutors and Governors, and dif– .fereth but little from a Servant. V. The Firft-born had a pecu– ·!iar Sort of Apparel, whereby they were diftinguifhtd from others; fuch was Efau's good ly Raiment which Rachel put upon Jacob. VI. The Firft-born had the Bleffing annexed to them, and Lm– lefs they wne lupplanted, '" Efau was by Jacob, they were bleft of their Father, efpecially when their ·Fathers were at the point of Death. T H E Sai~ts are made Kings to God, are caiJed Xmgs and Prmce" /{ King jha/J reig11 in Righteouj11ejs, and PrincesJhall rule in Judg– ment, !fa. xxxu. r. They ihall have Dominion over the Mighty of the Earth, in their Day. They are next to Chrift in H onor, and ihall fit upQn the Throne with him, Rev. iii. 21. 11. The Saints are Priefls as well as Kings to God : He bath made us Kings and Priejis, &c. Rev. j_ 6. They are called an holy P riejihood, to ojjer u_p a holy and acceptable Sacrifice unto God, 1 Pet. 11. _5· 111. The Saints have the eternal Inheritance made over to them; the World hath but a finall Allowance, for all they have amounts to no more than Vanit_y. God giveth himfelf, and all he bath, to .Believers; they have a double Portion, an Hundred-fold in this Life, and in the World to come Life everlalling. IV. The Saints patiently wait a while, being under Age, before they come to the full PofleJ~ fion of the Inheritance purchafed for them by Chri!l; and untd they come to full Age, they are under Totors and Governors, who deal hardly with them, and they feem not to differ from Ser– vants. V. The Saints are cloathed with a goodly Rai– ment, viz. the Righteouli1efs of Chrift: Holinels is the Saints Livery, whereby they are diflinguifh– ed from the reft of the \'Vorld. VI. The Saints are the nleffed of the Lord; none can take either Birth-right or Bleffing away from them; they are blell<;d, and ihall be bleffed. The L ord Jefus bleffed them at his Departure, and t!-lat Hlelling {hall never depart from them. D I ·S P A R I T Y. I. BUT all the Saints are Heirs together, they are all J oinr heirs, and yet every one bath all to himfelf: They have all one and the fame .Father, one and the li1111e Chrift, one and the fame Spirit, the fame Apparel, the fame Grace~ all one Faith, Hope, &c. all the fame Promifes, fame Attendance, viz. the holy Inheritance. Angels; the f.,me Crown, Kingd6m, and eternal I!. H eirs among Men have but a fmall Inheritance. What is all II. But the Saints are Heirs ofall Things, Heirs of Heaven and Earth too, Heirs of God.
