By all which feveral Applica– tions it is evident, that the Name 'I'aurus m Latin IS not dertved from ranouro.s, the fhetching our of the Tail, nor from Gauros, fignifying proud, but from the Hebrew , 'Igr, which fignifieth great, &c. The Epitheo of th1s Beaft are many, viz. wild, fharp, Plower, Warrier, Horn– bearer, blockifh, great, glifltring, fierce, violent, &c. Violent, crud, and proud Perfecutors, that abufe and infeft the Poor and Needy, are compared to Bulls, Bulls of Bajhan.; that is, faith Gla./Jius, the Enemies of Ch~iit, who were fi:ronO' ar.d fierce, i. e. !hong and outrageous Perfons, fuch as were the H1gh Priefts, Scribes~ &c. that fer themfelves againfl Chrift; fo Ainf..vorth. Bt>jhan wa; a fertile Country, famous for excellent Pafture, the Beafts that fed there being very far, ftron<Y, and areat. Hence the Bulls, Rams, or Heifers of Bajhan, are metaphorically put f~r fat Ones, Deut. xxxii. 14. which is transferred to Men, Prov. xxii. 12. A Bull is a Ring·leader of the Herd; for which Caufe, faith Gefner, Homer compared Aga– memnon, the great Emperor of the Grecian Army, to a Bull, &c. 'l'op– fel!, p. 77· 11. The Bull is a very flrong Creawre ; his Strength is very greaE in all Parts, but more erpeci– ally in his Head and Neck. PARALLEL. I. so proud and cruel Perfecurors are often Ringleaders of all the Herd of their bloody Crew, like as it were the High Priefts, Scribes, and Pharifces, to the Multitude of the wicked Jews, who confpired againft our bldfed Savior, Jdatt. xxvi. 4-r. 11. Horn fons, makes them cry our; formadenotes Power, as ellewhere hath been !hewed, and ny have been gored, and torn to to pu01 with the Horn, metaphorically fignifies all Pieces by Bulls: They are indeed exerting or putting forth of Strength or Power, a cruel fort of Creatures, efpeciDeut. xxxiii. 17. The Bulls of Bajha11 frequently ally when enraged, and therefore exercife that Authority and Power, which for a alll\rive to get out of their Way. Time is fuffered to be in their Hands, againft rhe Saints; yea, puOJ and gore them with their Horns in a cruel Manner, tearing them in Pieces: And by Reafon of which many timorous Perfons being afraid of them, to avoid the Danger, are ready to run away, viz. leave their native Country, when they hear that furious Bulls, or cruel Tyrants, are like ro be let in upon them, Pfal. xxii.
