' PARALLEL. the Tribe of ]udah, whether this is not Blafphemy again[t the Son of God? (4.) Whether when the Orders of the Church, Oral Traditions, the De– crees of Councils, are faid to be of greater Autho . rity than the Scriptures, which they call a Nofe of Wax, the Heretics Ink-Rule, are perniciouny mifchievous to the People; whether this be not Blafphemy againfl: God that fpake, and the Word of God fpoken? (5.) When Angtls, the Virgin Mary, and other unknown Saints, fhall be invocated with Addrelfes only becoming the Divine Majefl:y ; as if thefe Creatures were infinite, and could hear us at fo great a Diil:ance as is Earth from Heaven, which they could not do, if perpendicularly over us, much Jefs from all Parrs of the World, over which they cannot be; whether this afcribing Infinitenefs and Adoration to the Creature, that is only due to the Creator, who is over all, God bleffed for ever, be not Blafphemy ? (6.) To conclude, Whether making a God of a Piece of Bread, and calling the prophane Priefl: the Maker of the Creature, be not afcribing that to the Creature, which only belongs to God ? Is not this the vilefl: B!afphemy in the World, worfe, if poffible, than Atheifm itfelf? For as Philofophers obferve, it is better having no Opinion of God, than fuch an one as is unworthy of him; which we fhall clofe with this Argument: Argument. If no People in the Chri(tian World are borne up and fupported by a Beafl: full of Names, full of fuch Names or Infcriptions of Blafphemy, as Rome Papal, or Church of Rome is: Then Rome Papal, or _Church of Rome, mufl: be this Baby/on treated of. But there is no People in the Chri(tian World borne up and fupported by fuch a blafphemous Beafl:, as Rome Papal, or Church of Rome is : Ergo, &c. To reinforce this Argument, let it be confidered, that none can pretend to fix this CharaCter or Mark upon any Protefl:ant Dilfenters from the Church of Rome, called Heretics, who have no fuch Beafl: to fupport them, nor afcribe fuch blafphemous Titles, or Adoration to any Creature in Heaven or Earth: For they acknowledge the one God, the ObjeCt of divine Worfhip; one Mediacor between God and Man, the Lord Jefus; and God's facred Truth to be the o~ly Rule; difowning all Principles and Prac– tices contradiCtory thereunto: Ergo, It is not the Protefl:ant Dilfenters from the Church of Rome that are here meant. XI. Bab)'lon, that fits upon a Scarlet·coloured and blafphemous Beaf!, is adorned with great Pomp, and outward Glory, very well fit– ting that Spirit that delights in Grandeur: And the Woman was ar– rayed inPurple and Scarlet, and deck– ed with Gold, and precious Stones, and Pearl, having a golden Cup in her Hand, full of Abomination, and Fiithinefs of her Fornication, Rev. xvii. 4· Which mufl: be fuch as none of her Neighbors can match her in, elfe noN ate of Difl:inCl:ion. XI. Rome Papal, or Church of Rome, doth not only fit upon a Scarlet·coloured and blafphemous Beafl:, but fhe is beaurified and adorned with great Pomp and outward Glory, by which fhe cam– mends herfelf to that Parr of the World that de– lights in her Gaudery, being a Woman whofe Worfhip is filled with detdl:able DoCtrine, which fhe holds forth to them with PiClures and Gallan– try of all Sons. ( 1.) Look into the holy Patri– mony of confecrated Saints, there you find Riches and Honor, though not durable Riches, and Righteoufnefs. (2.) Look unto their Garbs and Vellments, there you fhall find Cardinals like fplendid Princes, Heads of Parties and Provinces in fuch Habiliments, that for R iches might have become the highefl: Order of the Jewifh Priefl:hood. (3.) Look into the lnfl:ruments, and Mode of their Worfhip, and there you fhall find the Altar and Candlcflicks, the Velfels for Oil, and Pots of Purification, as if their Predecelfors had been at Solomon's Temple, and had brought a Pattern from thence; and yet in this golden Cup, or framed Piece of Gallantry, there is nothing to be found, bm foul and adulterated Wine, mofl: fitly to be called by the Angel, Abomination, and Ftlthinefs, and the Wine of Fornica– tion: Which we conclude with this Argument: Argument. If no People in the Chrifl:ian World hath fuch Riches and Splendor, fuch Pomp and Gallantry in the Maintenance and Management of their Wor!hip, as R ome Papal, or Church of Rome hath: Then Rome Papal mufl: be this gawdy Harlot, ot Whore of Baby/on.
