He is difgraced in- deed, that is refufed by Chrift when. he cometh in great Glory. The Judgment of the blind World is not to be regarded : The Lord will Phew who are Isis Condemned in the World, on purpofe to try you : Though now you are accounted the Scurff and Off- fcouring of all things. I know 'tis a great Temptation to Perlons of Honour and quality ; but Chrift fuffered greater Indignities: Therefore, let us refolve to be more vile for the Lord. Chiefly, confider the Glory refeived for us in the Life to come, t loh. 3. z. Then is the Day of the Manifeftation of the Sons of God. Chrift is contented for a while to lie hid, and will not Thew himfelf in his full Glory, till the End of the World. In the Dayes of his Flefh his Perfon'was trampled upon by wicked Men ; and now he is in Heaven hè is defpifed in his Caufe, and Servants : His Perfon is above Abufe and Contempt, but not his Members. Chrift came in dilguife to try the World. Sathan would not have had the boldnefs to encounter him, the Yews to rejea him, carnal Chriftians to negle& him, nor the Faith of the Eleft found to fuch Praife and Honour, if all were honourable, glorious, and fafe here in the World. But the Day of Manifeftation is hereafter : Let us be patient there- fore, and'bear all the harfh Ufa e we meet with. There will be Honour : WhenChrifl, who is our Life, fbai appear, we fall meet with him in Glory. (5.) Propound k to your Hope, and Rand ready to meet with him, and wait for him ; and comfort your felves with the hopeful Expe&ation this will be when all things are ready : And you fhouldlook every Day, and long every Day for his Ap- pearing.
