It was a great Sin, that the Jews crucified the Lord of Glory ; but they have fome excufe, in that they knew not what they did. t Cor. 2. 8. Whom none of the Princes of this World knew ; for had they known it, they would not bave crucified the Lord of Glory. His Glory was'not eafily feen in his Exinanition and Abatement. But now we know more, and we era his Prayers, if we crucify him again afrefb, and put hint to open flsame, Heb. 6.6. We cannot indeed crucify Chrift really, but we may draw the Guilt of his Enemies that crucified him upon us. By your fcandalous Lives, you do in effelh, as to your Intentions, deprive him of his Glory, and approve the Aft of the Jews again(t him ; you live as if no fuch thing had been done to Chrift, as his Tranflation into Heaven. 2. Since Chrift fo earnefily toed for his Glorification ; it is our Duty, by all means, to procure and further his Glory.. We cannot do any thing, as his Father loth ; we cannot bellow any thing upon him but Praife, and magnify him by a fledfaft Faith, and by an Holy Life. Mortified Chriftians are the Glory of Chrift. 3. It is Comfort againft the Reproaches and Oppofitions of Men, as to the King- dom Of Chrift. Though the Jews (corn it, the Turks blafpheme it, Hereticks under- mine it, yet Chrift's Prayers will do more than all their Endeavours ; flip he will ap- pear God manif t in the Flefb.
