In regard of his Miracles.. He and his 'Predecefror Elijah were the greateft workers of Miracles ( except Mofes ) that ever we read of in Scripture, or that ever the Lord raifed up in his Church. For Mofes was to be the Founder as it were ofthat Church, Eftate and Worfhip that was in thofe Days : And Elijah and Elzfha were the Prefervers and Reftorers of it in a moft degenerate and corrupted Age.' The `Miracles of Elifha were very great and many ; they are re- corded in the fecond Book of Kings, in the 2. 3, 4, 5, 6, and 7th. Chapters, and one more in chap. 13. They were about one and twen- ty in all. There be-three recorded in the fecond Chapter, viz,. his dividing fordan with Elijah's Mantle, his healing the Waters of Jericho, the devouring-two and forty fcofling Children of thofe idolatrous Parents, the People at Bethel, by two She-Bears. In the third Chapter there is another, viz. the overflowing of the Wildernefs of the Eden with Water, ver. 16. 17, 2o. to the Deftru- aion of the Moabites, ver. 21. 22, 23, 24. In the fourth Chapter there be five more, which are the Analafis and Contents of that Chapter, viz.. ( .) His multiplying the Wi- dows Oyl, while fhe had any empty Vefl'els to fill. (2.) His giving aSon to that great and good Woman the Shunamite. (3.) His rai- ling her Son when Deadunto Life again : And this is the fecond Per- fon thatever was raifed from the Dead. (4.) His healing the dead- lyPottage which had poyfoned the Students in the College at Gilgal. 1( 5.) His feeding ofan hundred Men with twenty Loaves. In
