232 The Gofpel of the Peace-Offering. The Prieft's Part was the Breaft, and the right Shoulder. This 'appears out of the 7th Chapter Of this Book : The Ereaft was to be waved before the Lord for a Wave-Offering, verf. 3o. 31. The Shoulder to be heaved or lifted up before him for an Heave-Offering, verf. 32.33. We are here taught again, that Gofpel-Truthof the Maintenance of 1l?inifters. TheApoftle fpells out this Lefton to us, t Cor. 9. 13, 14. They that ferve at the Altar, mull live of the Altar. And that the Breaft, and the Shoulder were for them : Some have applied a little more particularly thus. That the Priefts fhould be as Breafts and Shoulders ; that is, Counfeflors andSupporters to the People, Preaching to the Ignorant with the Wifdom of a prudent Breaft, and bearing the Infirmities of the Weak, with the Strength of a patient Shoulder. Others thus, (i-.) He was to have the Shoulder, becaufé of his bearing the People, and carrying them and their Lee's Temple, p.346. Sacrifices before God. And (2.) the Breaft, the Seat of the Heart; to note his Compafiion, Ten- dernefs, and Bowels to them, bearing them always in his Prayers up- on his Heart before the Lord. Both which Accommodations are inge- nious and fpiritual, and taken from the Nature of the Things. But the fafeft way, is to obferve what Hints the Scripture gives : Thole Senfes are folid, and carry the belt Evidence of Light and Demonffration , with them. 3. The Ownèr or Offerer, with his Family, was to eat the reft of the Peace- Offering : that is, loch of his Family as were clean, verf. 19, zo, 21. Nay, the Vnclean might not fo much as touch ir, verf 21. under pain of Extermination : if they did, it made the Elefh unclean. As to the Offerer, withhis Family or Friends partaking of it ; here was an ex- ercife of Communion, as r Cor. to. 21: They haveCommunion with Devils that eat of Idols Feafls ; So this fignified their Communion with, and Incorporation into Chrift. Here was an holy Feaft, wherein they did rejoyce before the Lord ; Deut. 12. 6, 7. And thither 'hall you bring your Burnt-Offerings, and your Sacrifices, and your Tythes, and Heave- Offerings ofyour Hand, and your Vows, and your .Free-Will-Offerings, and the Firftlings of your Herd, and ofyour Flocks, and there you [hall éat before the Lord your God, and ye (hall rejoice in all that you put your Hand unto, and ye and your Hoafholds wherein the Lord thy God bath bleffed thee. Wemuff learn to enjoy all our Enjoyments in and for the Lord, and to rejoyce in Communion with him, in fpiritual Feafling at his Table. Eating the Peace- Offering, is feeding upon Chritt by Faith, and holy rejoycing in him. Chrift
