He is to put part of it upon the fout Horns of the golden Altar. of Incenfe. 3. He is to pour out the reft of it at the bottom of the Brazen Altar of Burnt-Offering. Of thefe three Ceremonies, a few words. r. The Prielt is to dip his Finger in the Blood, and to fprinkle it feven times before the Lord, that is, before the Vail of theSanânary, towards the Holy of Holies. Upon the great Day of Expiation, he was to Sprinkle it within the Vail ; but becaufe he was not to enter into that Holy Place every Day, but only once a Year : Therefore avother Times he did but fprinkle it towards the Holy Place,.. upon, or towards the Vail See Lev. 16. 14. But the fignificcation was the fame in both. It teacheth us three things. t: That there is noentrance into Heaven, but by the Blood of Chrift, flied and poured forth, and fprinkled and applied effeaually. For the place within the Vail, the Holy. of Holies was a Type of Heaven, and the Prieft entred there not without Blood, Heb. 9. r r, I 2., 24, 25, 26. Heaven is a-PoffefJion probated by the Blood of Chrift;. Lph:, t. 14. Heb. to. 19, zö. We enter into the Holieft.by the Blood of Yefcs. We had never come there, hadnot the Blood of the Sin-Offering been fprinkled there for us. 2.: There is a p f f d an ll u er- etit_cleanfing in the Blood of Chriff ; for he is to fprinkle it feven times. Seven is a number of Perfe&ion ; be- caufe in feven Days the Creation of the World was fmifhed, and God;; rafted from his Works. Hence feven is a myflical number, often ufed in Myfteries throughout the Scripture, both in Typical, and in Prophe- tical places. Vid. Aynfw. in loc.
