The Anfwer is, That the Lord hath made a gracious Provifion for the Neceffities of his People : Therefore leffer Sacrifices areprovided and appointed in fuch a Cafe, fromVerf. zi. to Verf. 33. where this Cafe is fully fpoken to, viz. inflead of three Lambs, he requires here but one Lamb, and two Turtle Doves, or elfe two young Pigeons, which-fo- ever he could heft get. And inflead of three Omer; offine Flowerfor a Meat-Offering, he requires in this Cafe but one Orner, that is, about a Pottle of our Meafure ; and a Log of Oyl, thatis, about half a Pint. This is the fame that was before ; and thefe leffer Sacrifices are as ef- fe&ual for the cleanfing of a poor Leper, as the greater Sacrifices were for richer Perfons. God accepting a Man according to that he bath, and not according to that be bath not, 2 Cor. 8. r z. The Rites and Cere- monies of thefe, are the fame with the former So I (hall pats from this, obferving only the gracious Condefcenfion of God to the feveral Capacities and Neceffities of his People. The latter part of the Chapter, is concerning the cleanfing of a Leprous Houfe, from Verf 33. to the End. Some fay it was a peculiar thing in that Land, a ftrange Infe&ion that feized the Land in fome Cafes, the whole Land being a typical Land, as we have heard. I fhall only note two or three general Obfervations from it, and from the whole Chapter, and fo conclude. Obi. i . The marvellous infeaious and defilingNature of Sin, in that it infe&s and defiles other things the very Houfe, and the Garments, To the Vnclean all things are unclean, as to the Pure all things are Pure, Tit. 1.15. It poyfons and corrupts all the Concernments and Enjoy- ments of a Sinner. The Apoftle fpeaks how the whole Creationgroan- eth and travelleth in Pain together until now, Rom. 8.22. For the Crea.. ture was made fubje J to Vanity, &c. The Stones out of the Walls, and the Timber out of the Houfes, are troubled with a Wicked Man, and cry out againft him, as Habakkuk hath it, Chap. z. t i. That's the firft Ob- fervation. Learn the wonderful defilement, and infe&ious nature of Sin, that it corrupts all the Concernments that a Sinner is concern- ed in. Obf. 2. Whereas the Leprous Houfe, if it were incurably infe&ed, snuff be pulled down, and all the Materials of it call away, Verf. 40. 45. This teacheth us, That all the Monuments and Remainders of leprous and corrupted 'Things,, mutt be deflroyed. Idolatry and Snperftition, is a Le- profy that hath over- fpread the whole Chriftian World, during Popery. And as the Prophet faith concerning B tbylon, Jer. 51. 26.
