The Materials and Preparations of them. There were the choiceft Materials, and the molt plentiful Preparations of them : The, People contributed to the Tabernacle very liberally, Exod. 35. 2r, 29. Exod. 36.5, 6, 7. So that Proclamation was made for them to ceafe. And for the Temple was prepared Gold, Silver, Brafs, Iron, Wood, Stone, ail in great abundance and vaft Sums by David and Solomon. There mutt be a preparing Time, and Work for the buildingof the Temple, which to do is God's free Gift : Therefore we muff ac- knowledge and admire him for it, as David did, r Chron. 29. 14. who, or what am l or my People, that we (hould offer fo willingly. Which I (hall mention now, but defer the Interpre- tation of them to another Time : They were three, the Houfe, the Courts, and the Veffels : All thefe were parts of the Temple, take it in the largeft Senfe, for all the holy Buildings and Appurtenances thereof. r. The Houle, or Building ; the covered Temple. Of this there are the common Parts that belong to every Houfe' namely, the Foundation, the Walls, the Doors, the Windows, the- Floor, the Roof. The peculiar Parts of this Houfe, as it was the Houfe of the Lord,: were the Porch, the Sananary, and the Oracle, with the Side-cham-. bers belonging to them. Thefe are the Parts of the Houfe it felf, or the covered Temple. 2. The fecond general part of the Temple, is the Courts about it ; for they were Holy Ground, as well as the covered Building; and they were two, the outward and the inward Court ; or the Court of the People, and the Court of the Priefts. 3. The Vef els ; they were many. I fhall inftance only the chief, and fuch as were fignificant of. Gofpel-Myfteries. And they are either bed longing to the Sanauary, or to the Oracle. r.
