The Blood of the Slain Lamb was not to be fpilt upon the Ground, or trodden under Foot, but kept in a Bain, as a precious Thing, Vert: 22. What that typified, we may gather from that of the Apoftle, Heb. to. 29. they have trodden under Foot the Blood of the Covenant. This was tohold forth the precioufnefs of the Blood of Je- fus Chrift; it is called precious Blood, r Pet. r. 19. Unbelief rejeäs and fpills this Blood, and makes it to be fhed in vain. 2. It was to be fprinkled upon the Lintel and Polls of their Doors with a bunch of Hyflop, serf. 22. This fhadowed forth the fprink- ling of Chrift's Blood upon the Souls of his People, that is, the effeau- al Application of it by the Promife. Ifa. 52. 15. He (hallfprinkle ma. ny Kations, a Pet. r. 2. the fprinkling of the Blood ofYeftis Chrift. It was to be fprinkled with a Bunch of Hyffop. This intimates the means of the Application of the Blood of Chrift, which are the Pro mites, and Ordinances, and Faith, and the Spirit of Chrift in them. 3. This Blood of the Pafchal Lamb made Atonement for them, that is, typically : So Chrift's Blood doth it really. Nothing we cando can expiate the leaft Sin : But there is atoning Virtue in this Blood ; he hath expiated our Sins, and made Satisfacîion for our Offences. . Hence the deftroying Angel patted over them, Verf. 23. and the Ifraelites were (pared when the Egyptians were cut off: So Believers are faved through the Blood of Chrift fprinkled upon their Confciences, when Unbelievers are cut off and perifh Eternally, Heb. 12. the Blood of Chrift fpeaks better things then the Blood of Abel. Thus you fee how the Blood of thePafchal Lamb typified the Blood of Chrift. 5. Their Eating the Lamb fignified our Spiritual Feeding upon Chrift by Faith, efpecially in the Sacrament of the Supper. We eat Chrift fpiritu- ally by Faith, and facrarnentally in the. Lord's Supper. The manner of It.ating was very fignificantto hold forth the manner of receiving Chrift in the Supper, not ann'orthily, r Cor. r r. but in due Order, as i Chron, r5. z3. r. They were to eat it ftanding, with their Staves in their Hands, their Shooes on their Feet, and their Loins girt, which was a Pofture óf readinefs for Action and Motion, which teems to have been a peca- liar Circutr,ftance of that fill Paffover ; but it was very lignificant, fhewing how we ought to behave our felves in the Egypt of this World; and of a natural Condition, and of Antichriftian Bondage, that we fhould be upon a Pollanof Motion and Aetion, beftirring our felves to Set
