He is called the Bread ofLife, and the true Breadfrom Heaven, Yoh. 6. 32, 35. this thews, that theManna did relate to him. So the Church of the New Teftament is called erufalem, Gal. 4. 26. hutJ°rufalemwhich is above isfree, which vs tbe lllother ofus al --- Rev, 2t. 2. 1 law the new Jerufalem cowing down fromGod wit ofHeaven. We may hence conclude that 7erufalem was a Type ofthe Church. So it is faid, that the Odours or Incenfe are the Prayers of the Saints. Rev. s. 8. Incenfe therefore was a Typeof Prayer. The Gofpel-Church is called Ifrael, Gal. 6. t 6. Peace be on them and Mercy, and upon tbe lfrael of God. Therefore that People were a Type ofthe Church of God under the New Teftament. GofpelMinifters are called the Sons of Levi, Mal. 3.3. the Prophet there (peaking of the coming of Chrift, he faith, He ¡hall purifie the Sons of Levi, that is, raife up a purer Miniftry. There is nothing more frequent in the Scripture, than for theAntitype to be called by the name of theType. And fometimes on the other fide, theType bears theNames andTitles belonging indeed aad moreproperly to the Antitype. So Moles is called a Mediator, Gal. 3. 19. So when a Sheep or a Goat is called a Sacrifice, and faid to make atonement,or to expiate Sin : there the Work of the Antitype is afcribed unto the Type. For thofe things could not take away fins, Heb. to. 4 it is not pojfble, that the Blood of Bulls andGoats fbonld take away fins : They were but a fhadow ofa Sacrifice, of Cbrif$ the true Sacrifice. 3. When by comparing, feveral Scriptures together, there doth ap- pear an evident and manifefl Analogy and parallel between Things under the Law, and things under the Gofpel, we may conclude, that fuch legal Difpenfations were intended as Types of thofe Gofpel Myfteries whole Image they bear. In fuch a cafe, Res ipfa loquitur. For the. Type mutt be made like the Antitype, as the Apoftle (peaksof that illuftriaus Type .Melcbifedec, Hebr. 7. 3. be was made like unto the Son of God. As the Deliverance out of Egypt and Babylon, ifwe read the Hiftory thereof in the OldTeftament, and compare it with the Prophefies in the New Teftament, concerning the Churches Deliverance from Anti- chriftian Bondage, we thall clearly fee, that it was a Type thereof ; there is fuch a refemblance, the one anfwers the other fo remarkably. Hence Divines generally make Samfona Type of Chrift, there is fuch a fair
