It is free from the turbulence and the agitation of its pursuits : it has none of the anxieties and jealousies of its com- petitions ; consequently none of the las- situde and the vexation of its disappoint- ing results. The further you proceed in its paths of pleasantness, the pleasanter they become. Its difficulties diminish, its delights increase. It has pleasures of its own, higher and better; satisfactions which depend not on human admiration, but on His favour whom to know is eternal life. Continue not, then, to live as if the great end for which you were sent into the world was already accomplished.
