That you have been heretofore noted, de- " famed, prefented, or deteéted publickly, to have been faulty in all and " fingular the premifes, and of every, or fome of them; and that' " youhave been divers and fundry times, or once at the leaft, admonifhed " by your ordinary, or other ecclefiaftical magiftrate, to reform the fame; " and to obferve the form and order of the book of Common- Prayer; " which youhave refufed, or defer todo. Item, " That for the teftification hereafter of your unity with " the church of England, and your conformity to laws eftablifhed, you have been required fimply and abfolutely, to fubfcribe with your hand, " (1.) That her majefty under God bath and ought to have, the fovereign- ty and rule over all manner of perfons born within her realm, domi- " nions, and countries, of what eftate either ecclefiaftical or temporal' foever they be ;. and that none other foreign power, prelate, Rate, or " potentate, hath, or ought to have, any jurifditlion, power, fuperiori= " ty, preheminence, or authority, ecclefiaftical or fpiritual, within her majefty's faid realms, dominions, or countries. (2.) That the book " of Common Prayer, and of ordering bifhops, priefts and deacons, con- " taineth in it nothing contrary to the word of God, and that the fame " may be lawfully ufed ; and that you who do fubfcribe, will ufe the " form in the Paid book prefcri-bed, in publick prayer and adminiftration " of the facraments, and none other. (3.) That you allow the book of " articles of religion, agreed upon by the archbifhops and bithops of " hoth provinces, and the whole clergy in the convocation holden at " London in the year of our Lord God 1562, and fet forth by her ma- " jetty's authority; and do believe all the articles therein contained; to " be agreeable to the word of .
