Much pains indeed has been taken by this gentleman, to reprefent Mr. N. to the world, as an angry, morofe and uncharitable writer, a man of narrow principles, and in a dangerous defign againft the peace of the church ; but fuch ungenerous refle&ions will return one time or other with weight upon the author. Mr. N.'s charader is in no great danger of fuffering by them ; and if after fo fevere a fcrutiny, this is all which can be objedted to the hifiory of the puritans, it will probably remain a lafting monument of the fpirit and principles of thole times.
