The ejected fellows of New College Oxon, petitioned at the fame time to be refl:ored; upon which the lords ordered, May 19, that " Robert Grove, Johlz Lamp/hire, &c. late fellows of New Ib. P· zs:v " College Oxon, and all others who were unjul1ly ejected out of their fel- " lowlhips, be forthwith reflored; and that all fuch fellows as have " been admitted contrary to the il:atute be forthwith ejected; and that " no new fellows be admitted contrary to the il:atutes." And to prevent further applications of this kind, the lords palfed this general order June 4· " That the chancellors of both univerfities lhall take care, that the fe- lb. P· 1 7!• " vera! colleges in the faid univerfities lhall be governed according to their " refpective flatutes; and that fuch perfons who have been unjuil:ly put " out of their headlhips, fellowlhips, or other offices relating to the " feveral colleges or univerfities, may be rellored according to the " faid il:atutes of the univerfity, and founders of colleges therein." Purfuant to this order, there followed a very confiderable change in both univerfities, commii1ioners being appointed by the king to hear and de– termine all caufes relating to this affair, who in the months of Augz!fl and September reflored all fuch as were unmarried to their refpective places. In the univerfity of Oxford, befides Dr. Oliver already men– tioned, the following heads of colleges were refiored, and the prefent polfelfors ejected.
