.APPENDIX. An APPENDIX, touching days and places qf public worjhip. T HERE is no day commanded in fcripture to be kept holy under the gofpel, but the Lord's day, which is the chrifiian fabbath. Fefiival days vulgarly called holy days, having no warrant in the word of God, are not to be continued. Neverthelefs, it is lawful and neceffary, upon fpecial emergent occafi– ods, to feparate a day or days for public falling or thankfgiving, as the feveral eminent and extraordinary difpenfations of God's providence lhall adminifier caufe and opportunity to his people. As no place is capable of any holinefs, under pretence of whatfoever dedication or confecration; fo neither is it fubjeCl: to fuch pollution by any fuperftition formerly ufed, and now laid afide, as may render it unlaw– ful or incovenient for chriftians to meet together therein for the public worlhip of God, And therefore we hold it requifire, that the places of public a!fembling for worlhip among us, lhould be continued, and imploy– ed to that ufe.
