Vie can hav e. no view or due profpefr of the T17ifd~m of God in any of his Works, much 'lefs in this of fending his Son in the likenefs of Jinful flefo, or the confiitution of his Perfon, and the work of Redemption to be .accomplifhed thereby, unlefs \Ve confider alfo the Interefi of the other holy Properties of the Divine Nature in them. Such are his Holinefs, his Rig,hteoufnefs, his foveraign Authority,his Good– nefs, Love and Grace. There are three Excellencies of the Divine Nature princi– pally to ·be confidered in all the external works of God. ( r .) His Goodnefs , . which is the communicative Property thereo£ This is the eternal fountain a@fpring of all Divine CommunM:ations. Whatever is g,ood in and unto any crea– tures, is an Emanation from Divine Goodnefs. He is g,cod, andhe· doth g,ood. That which aB::s originally in the Divine Nature, unto the communication of it felf in any bleifed or · ~ gracious effeB::s unto the creatures, isGoodnefs. ( 2. ) Wif dom, which is the DlreB::ive Power or Excellency of the Divine Nature. Hereby God guides, difpofeth, orders and direB::s all things unto .his own Glory, in and by their own imme– diatcc proper ends, Prov. r 6.4· Rev-4. II . (3 .) Power, which · is the effeB::ive Excellency of the Divine 'Nature, effechng and accomplifhing what f!flifdom cloth defign and order. Whereas T17ij dom therefore is that holy Excellency or Power of the Divine Being,wherein God defigns, and .where· by he effeB::s the Glory of all the other Properties of his Na– ture, we cannot trace the paths of it in any work of God, unlefs we know the interefi a.nd concernment of tbofe other Properties in that work. For that whichTJiijdom principaiiy defigns, is the glorification of them. And unto this end the EffeeHve Property of the Divine Nature, which is Almighty Power, alwaies accompanies or is fubfervient unto the di~ reffi7.Je or Infinite Wifdom>-· which is requifite unto Perfection /
