But it is highly contradictory unto all Equity, Juflice, and the whole Reafon of things, wherein the Glory of God is the principal and center of alL · Pr::Clically things are otherwife among many. The moil 1)rof1igate finners m the world that have a conviflion of an eternal condition would be faved. Tell them it is inconfifient with the Glory of the Holinefs, Righteoufoefs and Truth of God, to fave unbelieving impenitent finners, they are not concerned in it. Let them be faved, that is, eternally deli– vered from the evil they fear, and kt God look unto his own Glory ; they take no care about it. Afoul that is [pi– ritually ingenious; would not be fa·ved in any way but that whereby God may be glorified. Inaeed-to be faved, andnot unto the Glory of God, 1 implies a contradifrion. For our fal– vation is eternal Bleffednefs, in a participation of the Glo0~ofGod. _ ({ ~ Secondly, It followeth therefore, that man mufi make cJl-z~u fotiafatlio'n unto the}ufiice of God, and thereby aReparation pfhis Glory that he may be faved. But this became not the nature and efficacy ofDivine Wifdom. It be– came it not meerly to retrive what was pail:, without a new manifdl:ation and exaltation of the Divine Excellencies. And therefore in our Refiitution !Jy Chrifl, there is fuch a mani– fefiation and exaltation of the Divine Properties, as incom– -parably exceeds whatever could have enfued on, or been efl(£ted by the Law of Creation,. had man-continued in his original Obedience.
