That expreffion of from .him, peculiarly denotes the eternal original of all things. But how are this Authority, Goodnefs, Love and Power in the Father, whence all thefe things fpring and arife, made effe[/ual, how are their effects wrought our and accomplifhed? ihere is oae Lord, e·venJe.fus Chrifl, a difl:inet Perfonfrom theF_ather, st ~' 6y whom are all things. He works in the order of his fubfifl:ence, to execute, work and accompliih all that origi · nally proceedeth from the Father. By the Holy Spirit, Who is the third Perfon in order ,of fubfifience, there is made a , perfc[/ing Applicationofthe whole unto all its proper ends. Wherefore this work of our Redemption and Recovery, being the efpecial effeCt of the Authority, Love and Power of the Father, it was to be exrcuted in and by the Perfon of the Son; as the application of it unto us is made by the Holy Ghofi. Hence it became not the Perfon of the Father to aflume our Nature; it belonged not thereunto in the order of Subfifience and Operation in the Bleffed Trinity. The Au-– thority, Love and Power whence the whole work proceeded, were his in a peculiar manner. But the execution · of what Infinite _Wifdom defigned in them and by ·them, belong~d unto another. Nor did this belong unto the Perfon .of the Holy Spirit, 1 who in order of Divine Operation following that of his Subfifl:ence, was to perfeCt the whole work, in making Application of it unto the Church wben it was wrought. Wherefore it was every way fuited unto Divine Wifdom, unto th~ order o.f the Holy Perfons in their Sub– fifience and Operation, that this work fhould be undertaken and accomplifhed in the Perfon of the Son.
