Bled is the man unto whom Gad imputeth Righteoufzzefs without works, chap. 4. 6. And if we are made Righteous by the Imputation of Righteoufnefs unto us, that Obedience or Righteoufnefs whereby we are made Righteous, is imputed unto us. And they will be con- tent with this Expreffion of this Do &rine, That the Obedi- ence of Chrift whereby we are made Righteous, is the Righ- teoufnefs that God imputeth unto us. Wherefore this Ob- je&ion is of no force to difadvantage the Truth pleaded for. 2. Socinus objeas in particular againft this Do &rive of Juftification by the Imputation of the Righteoufnefs of and of his fztisfaaion, that there is nothing faid of it in the Evangelios, nor in the Report of the Sermons of Chrifi unto the people, no nor yet in thofe of his private Difcourfes with his Difciples. And he urgeth it vehemently and at large, a ainft the whole of the Expiation of fin by his Death ; De Serva- tor. par. 4. cap. 9. And as it is eafie, matis Myelitis pejora ad- dere, this notion of his is not only made ufè of and preffed at large by one among our felves, but improved alto by a dangerous comparifon between the Writings of the Evange- lifts and the other Writings of the New Teftament. For to enforce this Argument, that the Hiflories of the Gofel where- in the Sermons of Chri fl are recorded, do make no mention of the .Imputation of the Righteoufnefs of Chrifl, as in his judgement they do not, nor of his Satisfa &ion, or Merit or Expiation of fin, or of Redemption by his Death, as they do not in the judgment of Socinus, it is added by him, that for his part he is apt to admire our Saviours Sermons, who was the .Author of our Religion, before the Writings of the Ape - files, though inffiired men.
