We are not in this whole caufè to lofe out of our Eye, the fiate of tke Per - fon who is to be juftified and what it is he Both fèek after , and ought to leek after , therein. Now this is Pardon of Sin and Righteoufnefs before God alone. That therefore, which is no way fuited to give or tender this Relief unto him, is not, nor can be the ObjeCt of his Faith, whereby he is juftifiect in that exercife of it, whereon his juftification Both depend. This Relief it will be Paid, is to be had in Chrift alone ; it is true,but under what Confi- deration ? For the foie defign of the Sinner, is how he may be accepted with God, be at peace with him, have all his wrath turned away, by a Propitiation or Attonement. Now this can no otherwife be done, but by the acting of fome one, towards God, and with God on his behalf ; for it is about the turning away of Gods Anger , and Acceptance with him, that the enquiry is made. It is by the Blood of Chrift, that we are made nigh, who were far of Eph. 2. 13. By the Blood of Chrift are we Reconciled who were Enemies ; 7v, 16. By the Blood of Chrifi we have Redemption. Rom. 3. 24, 25. Eph. I. 7. &c. This therefore , is the Objeét of Faith. All the aelings of the Kingly and Prophetical Offices of Chrift , are all of them from God, that is in the Name and Authority of God towards us. Not any one of them is towards God on our behalf, fo as that by vertue of them, we lhould expect Acceptance with Cod. They are all Good, Bleffid, Holy, in themfelves, and of an eminent tendency unto the Glory of God in our Salvation : Yea, they are no Iefs necefhary unto our Salvation to the praife of Gods Grace, then are the Attonement for Sin and Satisfaction which he ruade ; for from them is the way of life Revealed unto us, Grace communicated, our Perfons fanctified, and the Reward beftowed.
