The ForrnalGaufe óf Juiificàtiori: 3o5 I anfwer firft in general; that the whole fallacy of this° Obje &ion lies in the oppofing one part of the defign and me- thod of Gods grace in this myftery of our Jufhfication, un- to another ; or the taking of one part of it to be the whole, which as to its Efficacy and Perfection depends on fomewhat elfe. Hereof we warned the Reader in our previous di% courfès. For the whole of it is a fuppofition, that thefatis- fatlion of Chrifl, if there be any fuch thing, muff have its whole effe &, without Believing on our part,which is con - trary unto the whole Déclaration of the will of God in the Golpe!. But I íhall principally refpe& them who are pleafed to make ufe of this Obje &ton, and yet do not deny the fatis- faction of Chrifl. And I fay .. z. When the Lord Chrift died for us, and Offered himfelf as a Propitiatory Sacrifice, God laid all our (ins on him. Ifa. 53. 6. And he then bare them all in his own- body on the Tree, z Pet. 2. 24. Then he fuféred in our flead , and made full fatisfaftion for all our fins; For he appeared to put away (in by the Sacrifice of himfel f, Heb. 9.26. and by one offering Le bath përfetted for ever them that are, Sánelifed, Chap. io. 14. He whole fins were not a &wally and abfolutely fatisfied for, in that one Offering of Chrift, íhall never have them expia- ted unto Eternity. For henceforth he dieth . no more, there is no more Sacrifice for fin. The Repetition of a Sacrifice for fin, which mutt be the Crucifying of Chrifi afrefh, overthrower the foundation of Chriftian Religion. 2. Notwithftanding this full plenary fatisfaclion once made for the fins of the World that lhall be faved ; yet all men continue equally to be born by nature Children of Wrath, and whilft they believe not, the Wrath of God abideth `on them, Job. 3. 36. that is, they are obnoxious unto, and under the Curfe of the Law. Wherefore on the only making of that fatisfa &ion, no one for whom it was made in the defign of God, can be faid to have fufféred in Chrifl, nor to have an R r interefl
