It is exprefled by flying for Refuge, Heb. 6. 18. Who have fled for Refuge, to lay hold on the hope fit before ur, Prov. 18. io. Hence force have defined Faith to be per ughim anina,e, the flight of the Soul unto Chrifl for Deliverance from Sin and Mifery. And much light is given unto the tinder - ¡landing of the thing intended thereby. For herein it is f'uppofed, that he who believeth is antecedently thereunto convinced of his loft condition, and that if he abide therein he mull perifh eternally ; that he hath nothing of himfelf whereby he may be delivered from it; that he mull betake himfelf unto fomewhat elle for Relief; that unto this end he confidereth Chrift as fit before him and propofed unto him in the Promife of the Golpe!; that he judgeth this to be an holy, a fafe may for his Deliverance and Acceptance with God, as that which hath the Characters of all Divine Ex- cellencies upon it ; hereon he flyeth unto it for Refuge, that is, with diligence and fpeed that he perifh not in his prefent Condition, he betakes himfelf unto it by placing his whole Truft and Affiance thereon. And the whole Nature 'of our Juflification by Chrift is better declared hereby unto the iiipernatural Senfe and Experience of Believers, than by an hundred Philofophical Difputations about it. 5.
