And although we need not affert, nor doI fo do, different al's of the Imputation of the Obedience of Chrift unto the Juftification of life, or a right and title unto life eternal, and of the fuífering of Chrift un- to the pardon of our Sins and freedom from condemnation ; but by both we have both according unto the Ordinance of God, that Chrift may be all in all; Yet as unto the effects themfelves, in the Method of Gods bringing Sinners unto the Juftification of life, the application of the Death of Chrift unto them unto the pardon of Sin and freedom from Condemnation, is in order ofNature, and in the exercife of Faith,antecedent unto the application of his Obedience unto us, for a right and title unto Iife eternal. The ftate of the perfon to be juftified, is mate of Sin and wrath, wherein he is liable unto Death and Condemnation. This is that which a convinced sinner is fenfible of, and which alone in the firft place he feeks for deliverance from. What (ball we do to be faved ? This in the firft place is prefented unto him in the Do6trine and Promife of the Gofpel, which is the Rule and lnftrurnent of its application. And this is the death cf Chrillt. Without this no a&ual Righteoufnefs imputed unto him, not the Obedience of chrift hinmlf, will give him relief For he is fenfible that he bath finned, and thereby come'fhurt of the glo y of God, and Under the Sentence condemnatory of the Law. Until he receives a de- liverance from hence, it to no purpofe to própofe that unto him which fhould give him right unto life eternal. But up- on a fuppofition hereof, he is no lets concern'd in what fliall yet further give him title thereunto that he may reign in life through i ighteoufnefs. Herein I fay in its order Con - fcience is no lets concern'd than in deliverance from Con- demnation.
