And I intend fuch a Church in general , as avoweth Au- thority from Chrift 5 (t.) For the Minifierial Preaching of the Word 5 (2.) Adminifirationof the Sacraments (3.) For theExercife ofEvangelical Difcipline; and (4.) Togive a publick tefimony againft the Devil and the world , not contradicting their profeflion with any cor- rupt Principles or Pra&ices inconfiflent with it. What is required in particular, that anyof themmay be meet to be joyned unto filch a Church , we (hall afterwards en- quire. 7. It is generally faid , that out of theChurch there h. no Salvation; and the truth hereof is teftified unto in the Scriptures, Ale. 2.47. i Pet. 3. 20, 2 t. Matth. i 6. t 8. Ephef. 5.26, 27. This is true both pofitively and negativelyof the CatholickChurch Invifibleof the Elect : All that are of it (hall be Paved 5 and none (hall be laved but thofe that belong unto it, Ephef. 5.25, 26, 27. Of the Catholick vifible profeffing Church negatively 5 that no Adult perfon can be Paved, that doth not belong unto this Church, Rom. io. to. 9. This Poftion of Truth is abufed by Intereft and Pride; an enclofure of it being made by them, who ofall Chriftians in theworld can laythe leaft and weakeftclaim unto it 5 namely, the Church of Rome. For they are fo far from being that CatholickChurch, out of which there is no Salvation, and wherein none can perith, like the Arkof Noah , that it requires the higheft charity to rec- kon them unto that vifibleprofengChurch, whereof the greateft part may perith 5 and do fo undoubtedly. io.
