-;,1 8 The Duty of Believers Kingdomof Satan and the world. And he doth not in a duemanner, declare himfelf afilbjea in or unto the King- dom of Chrift, who doth not folemnly ingage in this way. It is not enough to conflitute a legal subject ofthe King- dom ofEngland, that he is born in the Nation, and lives in force outward obfervance oftheLaws of it, ifhe refute fo- lemnly toexprefs hisAllegiance in the wayappointed by the Law for that end.Norwill it conftitute a regular fubjeec of the KingdomofChrif1, that he is born in a place where the Gofpel is profeffed, and fo profeffeth a general comply- ance therewith,; if he refute to tettifie his fubjeclion,' by the way that Chrift"hath appointed for that end. It is true , the whole Nation in their civil relation and fubor- dination according to Law , is the .Kingdomof England. But the reprefentation of the Kinglypower and rule in it, is in the Courts of all forts, wherein the Kingly power is a&ed, openly and vifibly. And he that lives in the Na- tion, yet denies his homage unto there Courts, is not to be efteemed a Subje&.So doth the whole vifible profefïìng Church, in one or more Nations, or leffer precin&s of people and places conftitute thevirible KingdomofChrift 5 yet is no particular perron to be efteemed a legal true Sub- je& of Chrift , that doth not appear in . thefe his Courts with a Solemn expreffion of his Homage unto him. 8. The whole Adnainißration of the Rule and Difci- pline appointedby Chril1,is confined unto thefe Churches 5 nor can they be approved by whom that rule is defpired. I (hall not argue farther, in acafe whole truth is of fo un- controulable evidence. In all the writings of the New Teffament, recording things after the Afcenfion ofChrift, there is no mention of any of his Difcipleswith approba- tion, unlefs they were extraordinary Officers, but fuch as were entire Members of there Affemblies.
