Where there is in any Church taught or allowed, a 'fixture ofDoblrines or Opinions, that are prejudicial untoGofpel I-lolinefr or Obedience, no man that takes due care ofhis Salvation can joyn himfelfunto it. For the Original Rule and Meafùre of all Church Communion, is agreement in the Doc`lrine of Truth. Where there- fore there is either not a .'fable 'Profefjïon of the fame Doctrine in all fubMantial Truths of the Gofpel, but an uncertain found is given, forte Paying one thing, force another ; or that Oppofition is made unto any Truths, of the importance before mentioned ; None can be bound or obligedto hold Communionwith it ; nor can incur any blame by refraining from it. For it is the Duty ofa Chriftian in all things, Cren&y7riváxI°Ciel ; And to joyn with fuch a Church, would to Stain their Profeffion ; (2.) Hinder their Edification ; (3.) Ef}a- blifh a newRule of Communion unknown to the Scrip- tures ; namely, betides Truth ; as might eafily be mani- fefted. 3. Where the .Fundamentals of 7eligioars Worfhip are corrupted or overthrown, it is abfolutely unlawful to joyn unto, or abide in any Church. So is it with the Church ofRome. The various wayes whereby theFoun- dations ofDivine Religious Worfhipare overthrown in that Church bySuperflition and Idolatry have beenfuf- fïciently declared. Thefe render the Communion of that Church pernitious. 4. Nor can anyman be obliged to joynhimfelfwith a. ny Church, nor can it be his Duty fo to do,where theE- ternally fixed Rule and Meafure of Religious Worfhip, namely, that it be ofDivine Inftitution, is varied or changed
