This is the noble peculiarfoundationof this part ofthe Ínheritance ofChril. From what hath been fpoken, theRule alto, whereby the Lord Chill proceedeth in difpofing ihefe Treafures to the foes ofinen,is made evident. Though he hath allGrace committed unto him, yet he belowes'not grace uponall. The Rule ofhis procedure herein is Gods Eledlion. For the Foundation of this wholeTrull is his undertaking for them, who weregiven him ofhis Father, fee Ad. 13. 48. Rom. 11.7. Epbef.t.3,4, 5,6, 7, 8. And thevariety which is feen in his aétual Communication ofGrace and Mercyuntofinners, depends upon tie Sovereign and Eternal Defignation ofthe Per- funs'ofthem, who by him were toobtain mercy, andbe made Heirs of Salvation. But although the Perlons are defigned and allotted unto him from Eternity, who were to receive this Glace and Mercyat his hands, yet as to the manner, and all Ch- cumftances of his Difpenfation and Communication ofthem, theyare whollycommitted unto his own Sovereign Will and Wifdom. Hence fomehe calls at one time, Come at another; fome in the Morning, that they may glorifie Grace in working all the day ; fome in the Evening oftheir lives, that theymay exalt pardoning rflercy to Eternity; on fome he bellowsmuch Grace, that hemay renderthem ufeful in the (trength ofit ; on others leß, that he may keep them humble in afenfeofthcir wants. Some he makes rich in Light, others inLove ; Come in Faith, ethers in Patience; thatthey may all pe- culiarly praife him, and let out the fulnefs of his (totes. And hereby, I. He glorifies every Grace ofhis Spirit, by making it thine eminently in one or other, as Faith in Abraham and Peter, Love in David andJohn, Patience to Job.
