9v An Expof tion of the C H A P. I, denoting a new Teflimony. And theyare followed by Valid, Erafmus, Bez,, and the bell of Modern Tranflators. 2. Such Trajctlions are not unufual, and that in this place hash 'a peculiar Elegan- cy. For the word ffAiv, again, being ufed in the head of the Teflimony foregoing, this Tranfpofition adds to the Elegancy of the words; and that therewas caufe for it, we (hall fee afterwards. 3. TheApofcle having immediately beforeufed the Word zrae', again, as his note of producing afecond TeJtimony, andplacing it here in the entrance of a third, it muff needs beufed Equivocally, if the Trajection oppofed benot allowed. 2. They deny that the Angels worfhipped Chrift at his`Aft coming into the world ; that is, that they are recorded fo tohave done; and theretore it mutt needs be hisfecond coming that is intended, whenhe fháll come in Glory with all his hòly Angels, openly worfhiping him, and performing his commands.* ThisReafori is efpecially fuited unto the Fifth Opinion before mentioned , referring thewords to the coming ofChrift at the General Day ofJudgement; and is unfervice- ableunto anyof the refl. But yet neither is this(atisfaélory ; for the Oeft on is not, whether it be any where recorded, that the Angels worfhipped Chrift at his firfi En- trance into the World; bwt whether the Lord Chrifl upon his Incarnation was not put into that condition, wherein it was the Duty of all the Angels of God to wor- (hip him. Now this beingat leall interpretative, a Command of God, and the An- gels exprefly alwayes doing his Will, the thing it felf iscertain; though no particu- larInftances of it be recorded. Befides, the Angels attendance on his Birth, proclamation of his Nativity, and celebrating the Glory ofGod on that account, teem tohave been a performance of that duty, which theyhad received command for. And this is al- lowedby thofe of the Ancients who fuppo(è that thefecondbringing ofChrift into the world, was upon his Nativity. 3. They fay, that thisbringing in of the firft begotten into the world, denotesa 'glorious Prefenting of him in his Rule, and enjoyment of hisInheritance; But ( r.) This provesùot, that the Words mull refpedt the coming ofthrill unto Judgement, towhich End this Reafotris infilied'on; becaufe he was certainly pro- claimed with Glory to be theSon, Lord and Heir of all upon his Kefurredion, and by the nett preaching of the Gofpe]. And (2.) No fudr thing indeed can be right- ly deduced from the words. The Expreflion lignifies no more, but an Introduliion in- to the'world', a real bringing in, without any intimation of the way or manner of it. q.. It is argued in the behalf of the fame Opinion from the Pfalm from whence theft words are taken, that it is a Glorious ReignofChrifl, andhis coming unto judge- ment, that is fet forth therein ; andnot his coming and abode in the (late of Humilia- . tion. And this reafonCamero affirms to prove undeniably, that it is the coming of Chrifl unto Judgement that is intended. But theTruth is, the contiderationof the fcope of thePfalm doth quite rejeél the Opinion which is fought to bemaintained by It. For ( t.) v. r. upon the Reign of the Lord therein fet forth, both Jews and Gentiles, the Earth and the multitude of the Ifles, are called to rejoyce therein : that is to receive, delight in, andbe gladof the Salvationbrought by the LoydChrift unto mankind ; which is not the Work of the loft day : (.2.) Idolaters aredeterred from their Idolatry; and exhorted toworfhip him, v.7., a dutyincumbent on them before the dayof Judgement. (3.) The Church is exhorteduponhis Reign, to abilain from fin, and promifed Deliverance from the wick- ed and oppreffors,; all which thingsasthey areunfuited unto his coming at the day .ofJudgement, fo they exprefly belong unto the fitting up of his Kingdom in this world. And hereby it appears, that that Opinion which indeed feems withany probability to affert a fecondcoming:ofChrift into the world, to be intended in their words, is inconfiftent with the fcope of the place from whence the Tellimony is taken, and confequently the defignof the Apoflle himfelf. Theother Conjeirures mentioned will eafily be removed out of theway ; Untothat of theAntients affigning this bringing in ofChrifl into the world unto his Incarnation; we fay it is true; but then that was hisfrrft bringing in,and being fuppofed to beintended in thisplace, the wordscan be no otherwife rendered, but that ,4:v, again, mull beefteemedonly an Intimationof the Citationof a new Teftimony. Neither canthe Refurretiion of the LordChrift be affigned as the feafon of the Ac- complifhment of this word, which was not indeed a bringing of ,him into the world, but
