the Glory of Chrift. ( 2.) THERE is an IncapaCity in our minds as unto their aetings on things fpir'itual and eterryal ' that is meerly narur~l from the pofiure wherein they are , and the figure which they are to make in 'tbis life. For they are here clothed with flejh, and that debafed and corrupted. Now in this ftate, tho the mind act its conceptions by the body as its Orgart and Inftrument : Yet is it varioufly ftreightned, encumbred and impeded in the exercife of its native powers, efpecially towards things heavenly, by this J.?rifon of the fleih, wherein it is immured. There is an Angelica! excellency in the pure actings of the foul when delivered from all · material Inftrnm~ts of them; or when they are :11 glorified an<;l made fuitable helps in its utmoft fp irimal activity. How and by what degrees our minds ihall be fi·eed fi·om thefe obftrutl:ions , in their beholding the Glory of Chrift, fhall be afterwards declared. 2. AGAIN., a new light, the light of Glory fhall be implanted in rhem. There is a light in nature, which is the power of a man to difcern the things of man. An ability to know, perceive and judg of things natural, _lt is that fPi1'it of a man ?vhich is the candle of the Lord fearch ing all 'the imPard parts vf the belly, Prov, 2 0 . 2 7 . · BUT by the light hereof no man can difcern fpiritual things in a due manner, as the Apoftle declares, ' · 1 Cor. 2. I I, I 1., I 3, I 4 , I ) . \ .V herefore _God gives a fuperior, a (ilpernatural light, the hght of Faith and Grace, unto them whom he effeC1:ually calls unto the knowledg of himfelf by Jefus Chrift. Be _(hine.r into their hearts to gi'Ve the1-n the kmwledg of hi.rglory in tbe face of his dear So11. ~ ~w
