on the GlorJ ofChrifl~ 198 C IR A P. X I I I. The fecond Difference hetwe~n our beholding the Glory of Chrijl hy Faith in this world, and hy Sight in Heaven. FAITH is the Light wherein we behold the Glory of C IJ:ift in this world. And this in its own nature, as unto this great end, is weak and imperfect , like weak eyes, that cannot beholcl the Sun in its Beauty. Hence our fight of it dif· fers greatly from what we fhall enjoy in Glory, as • hath been declared. But this is not all ; it is frequently hindred and interrupted in its operations, or it lofeth the view of its object by one means or Other. As he who fees any thing at a great di1l:ance, fees it imperfettly ; and the leaft imerpofition or motion takes it quite out of his fight. So is it with our Faith in this matter ; whence fomerimes we can have little, fometimes no fight at all of the Glory of Chrift by it. And this gives us, as we fhall fee, another Dijj'erence between Faith ancJ Sight. NOW altho the. confideration bereqf may feem a kind of Diverfton from our prefent Argument, ye~ I choofe to infift upon it, that I may evidence the reafons whence it is that many have fo little experience of the things wher~of we have · P 4 · treated
